Description

Back in 1955, when rock-n-roll was brand new, the Magic City tuned to WSGN to hear the revolution. Birmingham's first Top 40 Station had a remote studio on 7th Avenue South, at the heart of the Lakeview District. Deejays took live requests from their "sky castle"; a glass-walled booth over Ed Salem’s Drive-In. Teenagers would cruise up to the joint, order burgers from carhops on roller skates, and hang out to listen to DJs spin their favorite hits. 60 years later a new Sky Castle sits in the same spot; a nod to the past while shaping the future. Jeff, Chris and Jason Bajalieh- brothers well known in Birmingham restaurant circles for their popular "Sol's" and "Slice" concepts- have created a high energy eatery that promises to become a neighborhood favorite. The dynamic restaurant's interior is a vibrant space with a cool vibe which incorporates sleek tables and comfortable couches throughout an open concept encouraging patrons to get comfortable and stay awhile! Banquettes are piped similar to the 1950s Chevy seat; a subtle wink to the dawn of rock-n-roll and Birmingham’s musical legacy. Inventive cocktails are served from an ample bar by knowledge "mixologists". Televisions line the walls which are perfect for watching sporting events while the latest technology can ensure the sound will not interrupt conversation. Sky Castle’s lounge is a comfortable place to pass an evening with friends coupled with fantastic food and distinctive drinks. After all, with Sky Castle it is
